Abstract
The writer Judith Koelemeijer has been working since a few years on the biography of Etty Hillesum. On 22nd April she will be interviewed about her work. What were her main questions during the research? To whom could she still speak about Etty Hillesum? And how and where did she find new sources?
In a talk with Lucrezia Zanardi Judith will try to reveal different aspects of the complicated work she was confronted with in the last years.
During her research Judith was followed by a crew of the Dutch television. On the 4th of May (21.00 o'clock, NPO 2) the NOS will broadcast this documentary: Etty Hillesum – zoektocht naar een schrijfster in oorlogstijd.
About Judith Koelemeijer
Judith Koelemeijer (1967) is a writer of narrative nonfiction. She studied Dutch and Cultural History and worked several years as a journalist for the national paper De Volkskrant. In 2001 she published the family history Het Zwijgen van Maria Zachea, which sold over 350.000 copies. Her next books also became bestsellers. The biography about Etty Hillesum will be published in the spring of 2022. The event will take place via Zoom.
